Business Workshop for Solar Technician Training Program (STTP) Power52 Caribbean Energy Institute @ HLSCC

Dateline: [BVI, APRIL 2021] — Internationally renowned entrepreneur, author, and business consultant, Robert L. Wallace, will lead a 3-Day Entrepreneurship Development Workshop for the people of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) and will introduce trainees to entrepreneurial concepts that will assist them in the decision-making process of starting, managing, and growing an entrepreneurial enterprise in the Caribbean Basin.  Mr. Wallace is a best-selling author of numerous books on entrepreneurship and economic development and has entertained audiences throughout the world.

The Solar Technician Program, the brainchild of Maryland Solar developer Rob Wallace is the first of its kind collaboration with the office of Premier Andrew Fahie, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture; and the Unite BVI Foundation. It is designed to complement the territory’s effort to produce 80 percent of Anegada’s energy through renewable means by 2021and to utilize the local workforce and local businesses to contribute and benefit from the building of this energy based subeconomy.  This energy goal for Anegada is a component of a broader set of green energy goals established in 2013 and which encompasses all of the British Virgin Islands.

In his entrepreneurship training program, Mr. Wallace will begin with a brief foundation session on Entrepreneurship and then explain the linkage between indigenous entrepreneurship and the creation of wealth and the accumulation of power for the people of BVI.  From this foundation, Bob then transitions into his trademark Four Quadrant Entrepreneurship Development Model, which he has conducted around the world. This methodology, based upon his research while earning his graduate work at the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, leads the participants through a novel and rigorous approach to building their business acumen and being best positioned to maximize the opportunities available to them upon their graduation from the Solar Technician Training Program.

Mr. Wallace, who is currently visiting the BVI islands to prepare for his training session commented, “We are delighted to have been given this opportunity to participate in the inaugural solar energy training class for the people of BVI.  I believe that our unique entrepreneurship development program will prove to be of great value to the emerging and established entrepreneurs of BVI. It is my hope that this entrepreneurship development initiative will serve as a catalyst to usher in the emergence of a new and exciting industry for the country. As BVI looks to rebuild its economy after it was damaged in 2017 by Hurricane Irma. The hurricane caused widespread destruction and killed a total of four people. The eye of the hurricane traveled over the three major islands in the group: Virgin Gorda, Tortola and Jost Van Dyke.

To rebuild the leadership of the country, recognize that it will have to turn more and more to the entrepreneurs in its community to lead the way. I am grateful they have chosen us as one of their partners.”
